Learning to Love
The Brief
Design an up-market book using transcripts from three TED Talks of my choice. I choose three talks that share an important message about love, the way we love and the way we talk about love. I titled the book ‘Learning to Love’.
The Solution
My design was inspired by ordinary, everyday love and what that looks like. Love is over coffee, love is a chemical in our brain, love is triangular and love is difficult. The design features lots of little illustrations that act as vignettes of love, paired with interesting and elegant typography layout. The illustrations and blue colour palette offer a perspective on love that exists in our everyday. It challenges the over-romanticized and heterosexual ideas of love in society and media. Each TEDtalk has their own unique language and imagery, so I have carefully designed each section with different typefaces and grid structures to reflect the tone of each talk.
